Community of Christ Music
Our Worship Music
|
Through our hymns we sing our faith, and our faith is formed by them. They are the heart-songs that boldly express what we believe and challenge us to grow by announcing new ways of understanding and responding to the Divine.
Project Zion Podcast 563 Cuppa Joe:
150 Years of Hymnody with Dick Clothier Music plays a critical role in our lives. From our ABCs to the books of the Bible, words set to music have helped us to learn, challenged us to grow, and taken us to unknown places. Hymnody is no different. Through the singing of our hymns, we have continued to build a foundation for our beliefs.
Listen in as host Brittany Mangelson sits down with hymn enthusiast and accomplished musician, Dick Clothier, to talk about the history and impact of hymns in the restoration tradition. Beginning with Emma’s 1836 hymnal and continuing on through the current Community of Christ Sings, Hymnody has been deeply ingrained in who we are. Who knows, after listening, you may be inspired to write a hymn of your own. |
While our hymn book contains many traditional restoration and Christian hymns; you will also find many new affirming inclusive hymns promoting diversity, justice and peace.
Many of the songs/hymns from our Community of Christ Sings hymnal have been recorded by the Beyond the Walls Choir and are available online.

The Beyond the Walls choir is a global virtual choir sponsored by the Toronto Community of Christ congregation. It takes a lot of work to combine voices from all over the world and today Leandro Palacios joins us to give us a behind-the-scenes peek at this choir that has continued to keep so many connected to the joys of music.
