Topeka Community of Christ Prayer Ministry
Topeka Community of Christ believes in the power of prayer and we would like to pray for you.
Intercessory Prayer
(Praying for Others) 13 Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. James: 5:13-16 NRSV Intercessory prayer is a special type of prayer where an individual prays on behalf of others. It involves seeking God's intervention and help for the needs of others.
Intercessory prayer is an act of love and compassion where one person selflessly dedicates their time and energy to pray for the well-being of others. It is a powerful tool that has been used for centuries to help people in times of need. Our Prayer Ministry maintains a list of concerns, submitted by our friends and members. We circulate this list of concerns and prayer requests to members of our congregation, weekly by email, so they may pray for those in their time of need.

We do not publish the prayer list on our website or social media accounts.
Our Prayers are addressed to God and ask for wholeness and well-being on behalf of the recipient. While the word healing sometimes is used, healing can come in many forms. Care is taken to present the recipient to God, who best understands a person’s needs.
This type of intercessory prayer is not a sacrament; may be offered by anyone; may or may not be offered in public ministry (such as a worship service); shares the need for wholeness and well-being, often arising from illness or crisis; and is addressed to God on behalf of others. This ministry is available online, to reach out to those who do not have a church home, can not physically attend our church facility or do not know how to access this type of ministry. Please visit our Prayer Ministry page to submit a request for prayers. Call the Elders of the ChurchYou may also want to explore our Sacrament of Laying on of Hands.
