Community of Christ Mission Initiatives
And Jesus came and said to them,
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 NRSV Our Mission Initiatives equip individuals for Christ’s Mission, and guide us directly on to paths that help us make Christ’s Mission, Our Mission. They help us to know, be, and do as we serve Christ.

Discipleship is a calling that requires a heart of service and a passion for spreading the message of Christ's love. It involves reaching out to individuals, groups, and communities who need spiritual guidance, support, and encouragement. This can be through preaching, teaching, counseling, mentoring, or simply being a listening ear for those who are struggling.
One of the key elements of discipleship is building relationships that are grounded in Christ's teachings of love, acceptance, and compassion. This means reaching out to people from all walks of life, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances. It involves creating a safe and welcoming space where people can come together to share their joys, concerns, and experiences.
Another important aspect of discipleship is fostering a sense of community and belonging. This means creating opportunities for people to connect with each other, build relationships, and grow in their faith. It involves providing support and resources that help people overcome challenges, find purpose and meaning in their lives, and deepen their relationship with God.
Ultimately, discipleship is about following Jesus' example of humble service and selfless love. It is about putting the needs of others before our own and using our gifts and talents to make a positive difference in the world. Whether we are preaching to a congregation, counseling a troubled soul, or serving our local community, we are called to be faithful disciples of Christ and share his message of hope and salvation with the world.

"Above all else, strive to be faithful to Christ’s vision of the peaceable Kingdom of God on earth. Courageously challenge cultural, political, and religious trends that are contrary to the reconciling and restoring purposes of God. Pursue peace." D&C 163:3b
Sharing the peace of Jesus Christ involves generously and compassionately offering witness, ministry, sacraments, and community life that reconciles and restores people to right or righteous relationships with God, themselves, others, and creation. This holistic approach to proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel is faithful to our best understanding of God’s will.
Because God yearns for peace and justice for all creation, we honor our Enduring Principles to uphold the Worth of All Persons, make Responsible Choices, and honor the Sacredness of Creation. Led by the Holy Spirit, we work with others to restore Christ’s peace in the world and challenge unjust systems that diminish human worth.
“God calls whomever God calls from among committed disciples, according to their gifts, to serve and reach all humankind.” D&C 165:4a
Ministry is humble service offered to communities, congregations, and the world by disciples who follow Jesus. It is creating relationships that inclusively share Christ’s peace and boundless love. Each day disciples choose to accept God’s grace, ground themselves in God’s love for them and all people, and generously share Christ’s peace with everyone they meet.
Disciples of Jesus Christ are sent into their schools, work places, neighborhoods, towns, and cities to share their witness and invitation, compassionate ministries, and justice and peace. As more individuals receive education and training, many more vibrant witnesses will be sent to share Christ’s peace and embody and live the concerns and passion of Christ.
We invite you to join with us, as we follow Christ in Mission.
Experience Congregations in Mission
Equip congregations for Christ’s mission. We Experience Congregations in Mission by becoming congregations that are the true and living expressions of Jesus Christ, woven together by the Spirit, and sent into the world as evangelistic witnesses, compassionate ministers, and justice and peacemakers. |
Congregations are called to grow in the skills and qualities of discipleship that will deepen their love for the world and their dedication to share Christ’s peace. As congregations engage in spiritual practices and training, they will deepen their devotion to God and experience God’s direction in powerful ways.
We fulfill God’s ultimate vision as we, Nurture Congregations of Christ’s Love and Peace; Experience God’s Presence through Worship; and Become a People of Peace, Reconciliation, and Healing of the Spirit.
There are so many ways to connect with our community. We not only come together for worship, but we look for ways to build relationships along our discipleship journey.
