Letting Your Light Shine Blog
Are you letting your light shine?
"You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 NSRV |
We value our connections and share a strong sense of trust in and belonging with one another; even if we never have met. There are so many ways to connect with our community. We not only come together for worship, but we look for ways to build relationships along our discipleship journey.
We have created a “Letting Your Light Shine Blog”, inspired by the above scripture from Matthew 5:14-16, to share stories about building relationships along our discipleship journey. We invite you to comment about our blog posts and if you have a story that you would like to share on this blog, please contact Seventy Craig Hidy.
Online Prayer Ministry
The Topeka Community of Christ congregation believes in the power of prayer and we would like to pray for you in your time of need.
Intercessory Prayer (Praying for Others)
13 Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. James: 5:13-16 NRSV Intercessory prayer is a special type of prayer where an individual prays on behalf of others. It involves seeking God's intervention and help for the needs of others.
Intercessory prayer is an act of love and compassion where one person selflessly dedicates their time and energy to pray for the well-being of others. It is a powerful tool that has been used for centuries to help people in times of need. |
Our Prayer Ministry maintains a list of concerns, submitted by our friends and members. We circulate this list of concerns and prayer requests to members of our congregation, weekly by email, so they may pray for those in their time of need.
We do not publish the prayer list on our website or social media accounts.
Our Prayers are addressed to God and ask for wholeness and well-being on behalf of the recipient. While the word healing sometimes is used, healing can come in many forms. Care is taken to present the recipient to God, who best understands a person’s needs.
This type of intercessory prayer is not a sacrament; may be offered by anyone; may or may not be offered in public ministry (such as a worship service); shares the need for wholeness and well-being, often arising from illness or crisis; and is addressed to God on behalf of others. This ministry is available online, to reach out to those who do not have a church home, can not physically attend our church facility or do not know how to access this type of ministry. Please visit our Prayer Ministry page to submit a prayer request. You may also want to explore our Sacrament of Laying on of Hands for the Sick. (James 5:14) You do not need to be a member of Community of Christ to receive this sacrament. Please visit our Sacraments page for additional information regarding this sacrament. |
Coffee & Conversation Online Chat Group
An online dictionary defines coffee-talk as informal conversation among friends or acquaintances, of the kind that occurs in a casual gathering where people sit together and drink coffee.

We value our connections and share a strong sense of trust in and belonging with one another. Our Coffee & Conversation Online Chat Group, brings us together to engage in thoughtful discussion and listening, helping us appreciate each other's perspectives and build community together.

Why Should A Student Join this Online Community?
Life after high school is a time of profound change and self-discovery. Whether your student is relishing newfound freedom or navigating the challenges of independence, Campus Connections is here to provide essential support and companionship. We understand this time can be both exhilarating and lonely, and we're here to help build meaningful connections during this important journey. At Campus Connections, we encourage students to bring their authentic selves to our virtual gatherings. It's a space where they can openly share their life updates, joys, struggles, and everything in between. Our aim is to create an atmosphere of comfort and support, just like their favorite camp community but tailored for their unique needs.
Build Authentic Community Together
Community lies at the heart of our mission, and this is a chance for students to actively participate in shaping their own supportive network. Through Campus Connections, they'll have the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers who understand their journey. |

Project Zion Podcast 537
What’s Brewing: Harmony Why is “Welcoming” not enough? How can my church community become a safe space for the Queer community? Are you ready to do the hard work (heart work) necessary to move from welcoming to affirming? Find answers to these questions and more in this very informative and deeply honest conversation between Harmony President, Parker Johnson, Harmony Chaplain, Linda Stanbridge, and host Brittany Mangelson.
*The term Queer is being reclaimed by some who identify as LGBTQ+ and is used as an umbrella term for the LGBTQ+ community. We use the phrase “Queer voices” to describe all persons, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity (SOGI), who have the courage to use their voice to speak for justice for the marginalized in the Queer community.
